This is the sec­ond half of the really long blog post. Mostly, I am post­ing my get from the week after the meet. But, I did do some­thing besides shop, so hang tight and I’ll get to it.

Finally decided to invest into some Dolly Wink lashes. :] I think it was the sweet girl set that I bought.

They really bring my make up together and makes it look so much more dolly than just using a lit­tle bit of mascara.

Bought these from Mit­suwa while hang­ing out with my waifu, Caitlin this past week. They’re won­der­ful, though I’m still fig­ur­ing out the bot­tom lashes since those are pretty much new to me all together.   Richie was also finally able to accom­pany me down to Irvine and we did a lit­tle bit of shop­ping. Went to the Rilakkuma store, had some awe­some ramen from Ajisen and then did purikura to fin­ish the day off since Caitlin had to leave for class. After she left, we walked around The South Coast Plaza and I bought a book to put my purikura in.

I had fallen in love with Caitlin’s keyring so she took me to buy one like it. It was the last one in the store! I got lucky.

These I bought directly from Caitlin. They’re btssb Mille Fueille plat­form shoes.

The soles are wooden, but sur­pris­ingly light and com­fort­able! Beats wear­ing heels all day, that’s for sure.

Chocomint acces­sories that I received some time ago while doing a group order. Never got around to post­ing them so, here they are!

This past Sun­day, I went back down to Irvine to hang­out with Caitlin again. She had some local lolita that she insisted that I meet so I did. We stopped in to Crepe de Paris and had lun­cheon there and talked about the upcom­ing hap­pen­ings in the com­mu­nity for Sep­tem­ber. I’m hop­ing to make at least one of them see­ing as how Richie may or may not be able to go. (Usu­ally, this is because we’d never make it back in time for him to get to work and it’s not a good idea for him to miss work. Espe­cially because Irvine is about 2 hours away! )

Here’s how I did my make that day. As you can see I’m using my Dolly Wink.

The first thing that Caitlin said when I arrived was, “Omg, you look so cute! D: I don’t even–”

Guess I’m doin’ it rite?

My coord. I was wear­ing a blue cardi­gan but I traded my pony bag (+$30) for this Dream­ing Mac­aron cut­sew from Angelic Pretty. Sur­pris­ingly, it fit my big boobs. Then again, if it fits Caitlin, I can have faith it’ll fit me. (She’s gifted in the chest area too. )

Towards the end of the evening, Caitlin and I decided we wanted to do purikura. A friend of ours was feel­ing pretty crappy lately, so we encour­aged her to come out and meet us to do karaoke and purikura.   I think it made her feel a bit bet­ter.

I received my Swan Lake in the mail! It’s absolutely more beau­ti­ful in per­son than I thought it would be. It’s vibrant and very eye-catching. As I have explained time and time before, this print is a print I had seen on a girl walk­ing down the street in Down­town L.A. two years ago. She had the black col­or­way and it was just as vibrant except w/ blues in it. (I want the black color way too, btw. ) It made me fall in love with Lolita in a way I had never loved it before. I knew about lolita, I dab­bled in it dur­ing Jr. High and High school, but when I saw that print, I knew one day, I’d own it.

So, here we go!

Both my pack­ages arrived safe and sound, after a small mis­take at the post office. They scanned in the wig as received at 6:00am but it hadn’t even been deliv­ered because they don’t do deliv­er­ies at that hour!

The beau­ti­ful skirt! As you can see, it needs a lit­tle bit of gen­tle iron­ing as it was bought NWT and it’s prob­a­bly spent a lot of time in its package.

And last but not least, a photo of it worn. The skirt sits pretty high on my waist as it’s a bit too tight to be near my hips (LOL @ my hips being puffy cause they are. </3)

On to the wigs!

This was a bit of a sur­prise in two ways. #1: I ordered wig spray, but didn’t get it. I’ve con­tacted Cyper­ous so I’m hop­ing they can help me resolve this. I have a feel­ing that if who ever was pack­ing is any­thing like me, the bot­tle was right next to the box but they for­got to put it in.

As you can see, the bouf­fant is not as promi­nent as the other wig I ordered. A lit­tle teas­ing might help it pouf up though.

The dif­fer­ence between the two is phe­nom­e­nal! I love how relaxed the new one is, it’ll allow me to wear it with more casual styles in or out of Lolita. I’m over all happy with the wig, but I’m a tiny bit upset about the wig spray as it was the one thing I was absolutely need­ing with­out a shadow of a doubt because brush­ing these things w/o detan­gler is just a night­mare.

I finally got my OP from Baby, the stars shine bright. It’s as cute as a bug’s ear. Except, the bodice wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. But, I’ll get to that in a bit. Let’s just start off with our rou­tine “pack­age open­ing” pho­tos.

Please be warned that the fol­low­ing is extremely image heavy.

There it is. The beau­ti­ful one piece. It’s lovely, but the more I looked at it after an unsuc­cess­ful try-on, I began to hate the bodice. I took it to Grandma’s to see if there was any­thing we could do to help it not only fit bet­ter, but look bet­ter while on. We released two darts in the back and it helped the fit quite a bit, how­ever, the dress, as a dress, looked awful on me.  So, I forced Ma (much to her dis­may) to chop off the bodice and help me turn it into a skirt. She almost cried cut­ting into it because she kept going on about how well made it was, but I’m a mean girl so I made her do it. (Really, it was cause I didn’t have the guts to make the cut myself  )

Over­all, I’m pretty happy with my pur­chase. I know now though that I should just stick with buy­ing JSKs or skirts as OPs don’t agree with my body-type.

I have some awe­some news that I can’t wait to share with you but since I promised, here’s our round up from the last few weeks.  It’s a lit­tle short-sided since no one else has really put up any­thing new. I mean, come on. Milky Planet and the new Berry series from AP aren’t even out yet.

So, first up, If you haven’t got­ten yours already, then it might be too late for you. Meta­mor­phose has released and sold out of their sum­mer lucky packs!  If you were for­tu­nate enough to get one, it seems there’s going to be bloomers in them which is a pop­u­lar LP item right now.  If you did not get one, per­haps you can wait and watch the sales_comm for some­one who wasn’t happy with what they got.  Who knows, you may find one of your dream items in there.

Now, onto the “pic related” news from Baby the Stars Shine Bright. They have finally released, along­side their Sug­ary Cake print, their CREAM*SODA*POP series!!

Ok, and my good news is: I bought this in a one piece (as seen above)!!   It’ll not only be my first OP, but my first brand name dress. Before this dress, I had seen dresses from Brand name places that I liked, but not loved. Other than the Swan Lake print from Meta, this is the only other dress I’ve truly fallen in love with. I’m get­ting the whole set so that I don’t feel like I’ve cheated myself out. (Head­bow, dress and the match­ing socks)

As far as the com­mu­nity goes, there is a meet-up being orga­nized for AX in LA. So far, we’re still vot­ing on where we’re going to eat so no RSVP has been opened yet. If you’d like more info and to track this event, please click here.

Decided to help myself and my fel­low Lolita (espe­cially those who don’t keep track of the com­mu­ni­ties) keep up to date with what’s going on nation­ally and inter­na­tion­ally in Loli Land.

Please note: that from here on out, it’s going to be rel­a­tively pic­ture heavy, so I apol­o­gize to those on phones and on dial-up.

Brand & Off-brand Shop Roundups

BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT

First up, we have Baby the Stars Shine Bright. There has been some talk of them releas­ing a semi-controversial print: Sugar Rose Cake. This print has been said to closely resem­ble some of Angelic Pretty’s more OTT sweet style prints and is the sub­ject of much “orig­i­nal­ity” debate. Per­son­ally, I think it’s far more mute than most of AP’s recent prints, but it is indeed sim­i­lar. You’ll never truly be able to get away from candy, cakes and ponies in the Sweet world and that is who I am assum­ing Baby is tar­get­ing with this print. (Course, one could argue that all their prints are Sweet-geared)

METAMORPHOSE: TEMPS DE FILLE

Next up, we have Meta­mor­phose: Temps de Fille. Now, of all the brands out there, Meta­mor­phose has to be my favorite. Despite not actu­ally own­ing any of their pieces, it was the brand I was intro­duced to first.  So, with that being said, they’ve released a few new prints for the sum­mer. I’m only explor­ing the two most notable to me this week.

We have the Per­fume Bot­tle Print up and it’s just gor­geous. It’s sim­i­lar to another print by AP (I think…Correct me if I am wrong) with bot­tles of all assort­ments being the theme. For any­one who loves per­fume or just loves bot­tles and jars, this is a beau­ti­ful piece and per­fect to add to your col­lec­tion. It sort of reminds me of JUICY in a way.

Sec­ondly, we have the Bloom­ing Gar­den print. I love this print. To me, it goes back to the slightly older Meta style of ornate bor­ders, that could pass as works of art on their own, and tiny detail­ing in the bodice and upper skirts. I’m in love with it and next to their Swan Lake print, this is a dream dress for me.

BODYLINE

Body­line actu­ally has quite a few things that I’d like to round up. To everyone’s sur­prise, (and as seen in my pre­vi­ous review), Body­line had released a JSK called the Carousal JSK or Merry-Go-Round JSK. (Or to some elit­ists: The Poorman’s Sug­ary Car­ni­val) This JSK is one of the most well put together pieces that Body­line has ever pro­duced. They are noto­ri­ously mid to low qual­ity when it comes to dresses and prints, but, they have done a com­plete 180 with this dress. It’s not quite OTT, it can work with Goth loli but it also still fits really well into a Sweet Lolita’s closet. Frankly, I want all four col­or­ways. I have yel­low and black, I’m aim­ing for Pink and Blue.

To make thing even more inter­est­ing, they’ve also released three pairs of RHS or Rock­ing Horse Shoes. These shoes, orig­i­nally designed by Vivi­enne West­wood, are all the rage with most Lolita. They’re cute, look like bal­le­rina slip­pers and are ver­sa­tile with most out­fits. With­out hav­ing ordered them myself or seen a review for them, it’s hard to say what the mid-soles are going to be made of. Rumor is sug­gest­ing that they’re actu­ally wood, but I’m going to go ahead and be the skep­tic here and say that they’re more than likely going to be foam. How­ever, for the price, you may as well buy some for the lulz if you’re inter­ested in see­ing if RHSes are for you!

Summer’s here and Mis­ter Yan seems to have the Loli on a bud­get in mind. Body­line has released para­sols! Most para­sols can cost you upwards of 50$ for brand name. (Which is cheap, IMO since most of these para­sols have UV pro­tec­tion).  But for the loli on a bud­get, these can be a great life saver from the sun. Burnt loli is a dead loli.

Last but not least, Body­line has released a few more wigs for those of us who can’t afford places like Priscila or Cyper­ous. I do now know the qual­ity of these wigs yet. I do plan on pur­chas­ing (Since I want to learn how to han­dle a wig before spend­ing any big bucks on my dream wig from Cyper­ous). The Body­line wigs, how­ever, are mov­ing fast. You’d best see if you can get one before they sell out because I don’t know if they’ll stick around.

Qutieland

Qutieland has announced the release of some KidsY­oYo items that com­pletely caught me off guard. Salopettes. Salopettes is just a fancy-schmancy word for rompers. Boy, these guys look super comfy! I’d say per­fect for beach wear or room wear around the house. They’re eas­ily coor­di­nated and they’re extremely ver­sa­tile.  I don’t really plan on buy­ing one as I already have a romper that I lay around in but if you’re look­ing for a cute romper for a rel­a­tively decent price with good qual­ity, I’d say go for it. They’re up for sale now through Qutieland.

And lastly, Qutieland has got­ten a restock from Rose Melody of their fast-going Alice Fairy Tales JSK. It was released in the recent rise of Alice prints and fan­dom through­out Loliland. This is prob­a­bly the only Alice themed print I’d ever buy from any­where. It’s just gor­geous. A lit­tle bit on the busy side, but with the criss-cross (argyle?) style lat­tice detail I think it works for this dress. Would also be per­fect for a hime lolita or hime gyaru.

COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS

France

For those of you in Europe and espe­cially those of you in France, The asso­ci­a­tion Rouge Den­telle et Rose Ruban  and Le Chemin de Briques Roses are host­ing a Lolita Con­ven­tion tak­ing place on Sun­day the 4th and Mon­day th 5th of July at the Espace Beau­re­paire in Paris. Boy, you New York ladies sure are busy girls! I’ve heard about at least three meet ups this month from you ladies! I’ll be glad when I can move to NY. Haha. So, we have a karaoke meet being hosted so if you’re in NYC and missed the memo, now is your chance to let your lovely host­ess know you’d like to attend. For you wild Cali girls, the lovely Lul­labymynight is host­ing a meet-n-greet at the Moon­light Roller­way in Glen­dale, CA. Easy to get to from both LA and the lower cen­tral coast. (Mean­ing us Ven­tura, Oxnard and T.O folks) I will be attend­ing this event and if any­one who has RSVP’d finds them­selves with­out a ride, con­tact me via email or LJ (hap­pi­im­ilk).
